Q635: Is The New Moon To Be Kept Like a Shabbat or Feast Day?

I had a question about the New Moon is it to be kept like a Shabbat or Feast Day?

In astronomy, the New Moon is the First lunar phase, when the Moon and Sun have the same ecliptic longitude. At this phase, the lunar disk is not visible to the unaided eye, except when silhouetted during a solar eclipse. Daylight outshines the earthlight that dimly illuminates the new moon. Wikipedia

The symbol for New Moon in modern calendars is a completely Black Circle. The other primary Moon phase symbols in calendars are the following: = First Quarter, = Full Moon, = Third Quarter

With regard to your question about the NEW MOON, whether it should be observed as a Sabbath, my answer is NO, unless it falls on one of God's commanded Festivals like Shavout, Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashana), etc. 

The command of God about the observance of the Weekly Sabbath is clear; that it should be every 7th Day of the Week (Exodus 20:8-11).

• REMEMBER THE SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. (Exo 20:8 KJV)

• Six Days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: (Exo 20:9 KJV)

• But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF THE LORD THY GOD: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: (Exo 20:10 KJV)

• For in Six Days the LORD made Heaven and Earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and RESTED the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore The LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH DAY, and hallowed it. (Exo 20:11 KJV)

And this Divine Principle applies also to every Annual Sabbaths (Passover, Pentecost, Succoth, etc.).
