The ancient Hebrew letter TAV looks like a Cross. The cross was only the Beginning of the New Covenant. The Cross, as symbolized by the Letter TAV, was Christ's victory over death through His Resurrection. This enabled the New Covenant, and includes His ascension to the Right Hand of His Father.
The meaning of Christ's last word, "FINISHED" means that He then FINISHED all the Hebrew Letters from ALEPH to TAV (Revelation 21:6).
