Q17: I'M WONDERING WHY THE GREAT JEWISH TEACHER AND TORAH COMMENTATOR REVERED BY THE JEWS AS RAMBAM OBSCURED HIS REMARKS ABOUT GENESIS. I Don't Know What He is Talking About!

I'm wondering why the great Jewish teacher and Torah commentator revered by the Jews as Rambam obscured his remarks about the book of Genesis. I don't know what he is talking about! 

"Whoever shall find out the true sense of the Book of Genesis ought to take care not to divulge it… If a person should discover the true meaning of it by himself, or by the aid of another, then he ought to be silent, or if he speaks he ought to speak of it obscurely, in an enigmatical manner, as I do myself" - (Rabbi Moses Maimonides)

WHY RAMBAM HID HIS KNOWLEDGE OF GENESIS 

This is what I'm saying about all along, that there are lots of secrets that God have intentionally concealed for thousands of years! During the time of the Rambam, these divine secrets of the Torah (Bible) were forbidden by God to be revealed to the general public, even to the chosen nation of Israel. This is because of Israel's sins. 

These secrets were only known to a very few chosen Rabbis and Jewish sages, one of which is the Rambam (1135-1204). During the lifetime of the Rambam, the prohibition to reveal the secrets still exists. This is one of the reasons why the Ramban wrote the above quotation you mentioned. 

The Rambam knew the awe-inspiring secrets of the creation of man, and the spiritual and physical universes, hidden deep in the Book of Genesis. The Rambam also knew that Christ is the Messiah, but he and the other sages privy to the secrets were prohibited by God to tell the secrets to the general public. In their lifetime, the TIME to reveal have not yet come!

I am writing an introductory book for this secret wisdom. To help you in your search for understanding, here are excerpts about the time periods of the revelations of this divine wisdom, also with the significance of these periods.

16th CENTURY: THE ARIZAL (1534 -1572)
It's a Mitzvah to Reveal this Wisdom

In the 16th century, the chaotic aftermath of the Expulsion of the Jews from Spain, resulted in an influx of sages to the Holy City of Safed in Galilee, Israel. This became the center from which the Secret Wisdom was further developed. The writings of the Arizal contain all the keys to the celestial vision as witnessed at Sinai and by all the prophets. The Arizal also declared that, "It is a commandment (Mitzvah) to reveal this wisdom." This means that although until the period of the Arizal, the Secret Wisdom was known only by a chosen few, the time had come for the teachings of this Wisdom to be taught widely. 
 
1540 AD: KABBALIST ABRAHAM AZULAI
The Lifting of the Wisdom of Truth Prohibition

The ban against studying the Kabbalah was lifted in 1540 AD by the efforts of the 16th century Kabbalist Rabbi Avraham Azulai (1570-1643). 

"I have found it written that all that has been decreed Above forbidding open involvement in the Wisdom of Kabbalah was [only meant for] the limited time period until the year 5,250 (1490 C.E). From then on after is called the "Last Generation", and what was forbidden is [now] allowed. And permission is granted to occupy ourselves in the [study of] Zohar. And from the year 5,300 (1540 C.E.) it is most desirable that the masses both those great and small [in Torah], should occupy themselves. And because in this merit King Mashiach will come in the future – and not in any other merit – it is not proper to be discouraged [from the study of Kabbalah]." -- Rabbi Avraham Azulai
 
So from the year 1540 AD onward, the prohibition against learning the Wisdom of Truth was over. Kabbalist Abraham Azulai revealed a historic decree issued by the sages of antiquity: 

"From the year 1540 and onward, the basic levels of the Kabbalah must be taught publicly to everyone, young and old. Only through the Kabbalah will we forever eliminate war, destruction, and man's inhumanity to his fellow man." -- The Mercy of Abraham

So, NOW, it is God's command to study this very precious Wisdom of Truth -- the Messianic Kabbalah.
