Lope Columna  EVERYTHING GOD CAN DO. There is nothing that is impossible for Him to do.

Jim Wanglum Anal Sir, me too, I stand on the point that nothing is impossible with God. But one of my teacher argue me, and wrote down that God can not do sin, He can not force any one, and so on. How I will answer this question? Please help.

Lope Columna When it comes to Sin, let me elaborate this; By Himself, GOD CANNOT SIN directly, but HE CAN ALLOW SIN! God even created Darkness, and Evil (Isaiah 45:7).
  • I form the Light, and create Darkness: I make Peace, and create Evil: I The LORD do all these thing. (Isa 45:7 KJV)
This means that Personally, and as by Himself, the Creator God cannot do sin because sin cannot dwell on Him, and He cannot dwell on sin. Some related definitions of SIN that make this concept clear, are the following:
  1. SIN IS THE ABSENCE OF THE HOLY GOD.
  2. SIN IS THE DISTANCE FROM THE HOLY GOD, OR FROM HIS GLORY.
  3. SIN IS THE DISCONNECTION FROM THE HOLY GOD.
With the above definitions of Sin, it shows that the Holy Creator God cannot sin, because:
  1. God cannot be absent from Himself.
  2. God cannot distant from Himself, or from His Glory.
  3. God cannot disconnect from Himself.
And we should note that the English word Commandment came from the Hebrew word Mitzvah.  And MITZVAH means CONNECTION. You are connected or attached to God when you obey His Commandments. Obeying a mitzvah creates a bond between God who commands and the Man who obeys. But when you disobey God's Commandments (mitzvah), you Sin, which means that you are now disconnected from God!

SIN IS APPLICABLE ONLY TO THE CREATIONS, BUT NOT TO THE CREATOR

Now, we can see that SIN is applicable only to the creations, not to the Creator God. Thus, God can allow sin and evil to happen as part of His Creation Process. This means that God can temporarily allow sin or evil to happen in a particular place and time, according to His purpose. Anything (good and bad) cannot happen in the whole universe (entire creation) without God's permission.

And God created Man (and the Angels) not as programmed robots or animals. God wants children that love Him by their own volition and from their own hearts. Therefore, God allows His Children or created beings to commit sin. This is the concept of FREEWILL or FREE CHOICE that God gave to every human being. Thus, every person (even the Angels) was given the freedom of choice whether to obey Him or not, which is the decision to sin or not, to do good or evil, to choose between blessings and curses, or to choose between life and death.

And God advised everyone to use their gift of FREEWILL properly, that is, to choose GOOD, BLESSINGS, and LIFE (by listening and obeying Him), instead of choosing their opposites (Deuteronomy 30:19).
  • I call Heaven and Earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you Life and Death, Blessing and Curse. CHOOSE LIFE so that you and your descendants may live, (Deu 30:19 HCSB)
The individual thoughts, words, decisions, attitudes, and actions (right and wrong), that we accumulated in our lifetime, will let God can know exactly whether we become His Children, or the Children of the Devil (John 8:44). Whatever we sow, we shall reap.

So, to help you answer directly the argument of your teacher, let me summarize what I have just said:

Q2. God can not do sin
A2. Yes, God cannot do sin by Himself, but He can temporarily allow His creation to sin. This is part of the Creation Process.

Q3. He can not force any one...
A3. This is not true. God can force anyone, if need be, according to His purpose. This is what God did when He hardened (forced) the heart of the Egyptian Pharaoh not to let Israel go. This was done for the purpose of fulfilling God's great judgments upon Egypt, and to let the Egyptians know His Divine Power and Glory (Exodus 7:3-5).

Jeremiah Wiltse When we are talking about God being able to do anything it means He holds all power. Like walking on water, healing the sick, and raising the dead. It has nothing to do with Him being able to do all things freely. For we know God can not break His word. He is held to the same standard He holds us too, otherwise He becomes a hypocrite. God does not sin, nor does he tempt man to sin, but they are drawn away of their own lusts.

Jeremiah Wiltse The verse is anything too hard for the Lord is speaking of His ability to work through any circumstance and overcome any obstacle in our lives.

Lope Columna. Jeremiah Wiltse, your understanding of the True Creator God is incomplete and vague. This means that you don't really know Him, which is a very dangerous situation, because ONLY those that truly know Him will be saved (John 17:3).
